In March 1973, Blue Magic, a Philadelphia based R&B vocal group consisting of Keith Beaton, Theodore Mills, Richard Pratt, Wendell Sawyer and Vernon Sawyer landed their first hit on Billboard's singles chart with “Spell.”

Part 2: Archie Bell and the Drells


Archie Bell was the lead singer for one of the top regional bands in the southwest - Archie Bell and the Drells. In 1968 and 1969 the band released three hit albums: “Tighten Up,” “I Can’t Stop Dancing” and “There’s Gonna Be A Showdown.” These titles were also the names of their hit singles.

Movie Review: "Pride"


In its opening “Pride” seems to be just another sports movie, however as the film progresses it becomes obvious that there is more to the movie. “Pride” serves as a reminder to the black community that their life purpose is just as important as all other ethnic group.


Debuting at No. 5 in the box office, African-American film maker Tyler Perry’s latest installment “Daddy’s Little Girls” is a heartwarming, faith-filled drama.
