It's a Good Thing: Apprentice Martha Stewart

Just added to the continuing list of reality television comes the sleek and stylish “Apprentice Martha Stewart,” to NBC.

Sixteen contestants are housed in an exclusively designed loft right next to Martha’s Omnimedia offices in New York City.

Martha and her set look crisp and flawless, as she welcomes the participants whom are each vying for a powerful position in her Corporation.

In handwritten note Martha asks the contestants to form two teams based on their preference. They divide into “Matchstick,” which consists of creative professionals, and “Primarius,” made up of corporate professionals.

In the premier episode the first task was to re-create an existing fairy tale into a relevant children’s book, with the help of Random House Publishers.

Tensions rose as personalities and ideas conflict, especially for team Matchstick. Once the book was created, the teams read the story to a group of children to determine if the book successfully reached its audience.

The clear winners were Primarius, who enjoyed a gourmet dinner with Martha and one of her favorite chefs.

The loosing team, Matchstick, was called to the conference room to determine who would be sent home. Martha told the team leader goodbye saying, “I’m sorry, you just don’t fit in.” Apparently we won’t hear the resounding “your fired” like her counterpart Donald Trump.

Stewart’s polite but firm governance along with cutthroat team dynamics should hold viewers in anticipation for the season.
Apprentice Martha Stewart, NBC at 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
