No Love for "Love Inc."
By Necie Green, 09.26.05
Ever wonder where the unlucky in love turn to for help? Enter “Love, Inc.,” a full-service dating company to the rescue.
The “Love, Inc.” staff makes a business out of the term “wingman” as they establish love connections on a daily basis. Clea, (Holly Robinson Peete), is the firm’s founder and newest customer following her recent divorce. Viviana, (Ion Overman), is the office receptionist searching for a man willing to help her obtain a green card.
Denise Johnson, (Busy Phillips), Francine, (Reagan Gomez-Preston), and Barry, (Vince Vieluf), are consultants working night and day to generate relationships for their clients. Within the first few minutes of the show, it’s obvious that the consultants need more help than the clients.
The matchmakers of “Love, Inc.” have no problem helping customers discover true love. Unfortunately, their theory has not worked in their personal lives.
Each person is single - and how could they not be? They spend every moment matchmaking their clients. There is no end in sight to the dating disasters and missed love opportunities this show can provide. And that’s not a good thing.
“Love, Inc.” is up against tough prime-time competition - “Alias” (ABC), “The O.C.” (FOX) and “Will & Grace” (NBC).
Unless writers improve the show’s script, viewers will be saying, “Love who?” by the end of the season.
"Love, Inc.," UPN at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday
