To Better Health...and Coffee

Suffolk, Virginia - Some coffeehouses serve up more than great java. Local coffeehouse Java 149, more commonly referred to as Cloud 9, hosted its first annual “Health and Wellness” night on Thursday. Located in Suffolk, Cloud 9 sponsors different events for the community to participate in.
“Health and Wellness” night was first developed by Heather Biaggi, a barista and massage therapist for Java 149.
As a massage therapist, Biaggi said she thought it would be a good idea to bring some of her colleagues together to offer health advice to community members.
“I picked out some friends I knew in the medical field as well as a local chiropractor to help out with the event,” Biaggi said.
Biaggi said Java 149’s “Health and Wellness” night offered a plethora of services, from chair massages and health classes, to skin care tips and nutritional advice.
“This event was a great way for people to get information and some helpful health tips” Biaggi said.
Some advice offered by the medical associates at the event involved tips to maintain a balanced life-style.
“Taking good care of your skin, using aroma therapy and body salts for your body, keeping a balanced diet, exercising and getting on a health plan are key things people can do to stay healthy,” Biaggi said. “Just little changes like these will definitely benefit you in the long run.”
For the people who participated in this years event, they walked away with some free products, health awareness and a lot of great advice. “Depending on how this years event turns out we will think about sponsoring another one in the future,” said Biaggi.
Java 149 also offers poetry night, book clubs and many more activities that the community can participate in.
